Californians Agree: Clean Energy is Affordable Energy.

California’s Energy Future Needs Action Now

California needs an affordable, flexible, and reliable energy grid. Governor Newsom should accelerate its development by signing this package of clean energy affordability bills on his desk:

Governor Newsom, sign these bills:

  • Over 70% of Californians want to use their personal energy devices to lower their utility bill AND make it easier to use them in their homes and businesses.

Senator Becker’s SB 913 modernizes resource adequacy rules so customer-owned resources like home batteries and smart thermostats can compete on a level playing field with traditional power sources to provide grid reliability at the lowest cost.
  • 69% of voters want to get more out of the existing grid.

Senator Becker’s SB 905 establishes a framework to improve grid utilization, helping increase the use of the existing system so that system costs are spread over a larger group of customers.
  • 80% of California voters want to modernize and speed up energy transmission development in California.

Assemblymember Petrie-Norris’ AB 2493 requires more accountability for utility delays that are slowing necessary grid upgrades and preventing new clean energy projects from connecting to the grid.
  • 87% say the state should make it easier for people to buy or install smart energy devices such as solar or battery storage.

Senator Wiener’s SB 868 will expand access to balcony solar for renters and apartment residents.
  • 77% of voters want to see neighborhood renewable energy projects within their communities.

Assemblymember Ward’s AB 1813 expands access to community renewable energy for all Californians.
